While The Evil Dead managed to charm audiences with it's simple yet entertaining production, Evil Dead 2 was Raimi's shot at showing what he could do with some real money. As in, what he could do that people might watch. A lot of the points of the first movie are gone (blog post) over again, but this time the direction is more in line with horror comedy. Or perhaps at times, even just straight up action with gore. In any case, for being a sequel that goes over a lot of the (blog post) same points and scenes as the first it couldn't be more different in feel.
